The Role of Church Partners, Community Nonprofits, and Local Government
Arnold and Heidi, a dedicated missionary couple serving in the Amazon Jungle, traveled to our region for much-needed respite and to visit supporters, and seek new donors. They found a vibrant community at Love In the Name of Christ of Montgomery County (Love INC or LINC MoCo). They attended the weekly prayer group and participated in events, including the Nourish the LINC church and ministry leaders luncheon. One Friday evening, Arnold was struck with severe stomach pain. Being far away from home and their mission field, they lacked insurance and had no resources to access healthcare. In their time of need, they contacted Love INC of Montgomery County.
LINC MoCo swiftly connected them with several community health resources including Mercy Clinic, where Arnold received an immediate diagnosis, subsequently undergoing a life-saving emergency appendectomy. Upon recuperating from the surgery, Arnold and Heidi rejoined the Love INC weekly prayer meetings where they participated in and received prayer. At one of the meetings both missionaries were encouraged to get full medical exams before returning to the Amazon. LINC MoCo helped to set up medical appointments, while church donors generously stepped in to cover all expenses for their examinations. After good checkups, Arnold and Heidi resumed their mission to the Amazon, demonstrating the love of Christ while sharing the Gospel message. Having formed new relationships and connection in the U.S., there are assured of ongoing support and prayers from their newfound Love INC community.
“The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.” – Proverbs 22:9
Through the cooperation of church partners, community nonprofits, and local government, we witnessed the joy of giving and the importance of serving others. This collaboration provided vital support to Arnold and Heidi, enabling them to continue their mission with renewed strength and assurance.
