Isabella’s Revival: Finding Hope and Healing Through Faith

Isabella*, a college student grappling with severe depression, was feeling increasingly isolated and overwhelmed by the pressures of academics and social life. She struggled with finding her identity, feeling misunderstood, and unworthy. Her despondency grew, leading her to self-harm and deepening her sense of hopelessness.

Concerned for their daughter, Isabella’s family sought help from their local church. While they appreciated the church’s efforts, they felt that those they confided in didn’t fully understand the gravity of Isabella’s situation or their needs. In their search for more effective support, Isabella’s parents turned to Love In the Name of Christ of Montgomery County (Love INC) for additional resources.

At Love INC, we were able to connect Isabella and her family with a professional counseling service and provide access to other vital resources. Through ongoing discussions and engagement between Love INC and the church, we facilitated the introduction of a mentor for Isabella and her family. This mentor offered unwavering support and became a crucial part of their journey.

With the guidance of her mentor and the continued support from her church and community, Isabella slowly began to see how she could participate in and be part of a loving community. Over time, she discovered renewed hope, purpose, and a sense of belonging.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” John 13:34

Isabella’s story highlights the importance of churches recognizing when their pastoral care and the care of the church community needs to be complemented by professional counseling. It underscores how Love INC serves as a bridge, LINC-ing individuals with essential resources both within and outside the local church community. By providing this connection, we help address the deeper needs of those struggling and support them in finding the hope and belonging they seek.
